Controlling the green-eyed monster ...

One of the most destructive thoughts in the world is jealousy.

Why do people tend to envy one another?

Jealousy is based in fear - if the other person will have something, then there will be nothing left for me.

When a person is jealous, it indicates a disbelief that there is not enough abundance in the world for everyone.

Envy provokes struggles, aggression, hostile activity, and wars. As a result, suffering, hunger and the injustice intensify, people and nations are exploited, economic systems collapse, one group takes over the lands of another, and refugees are forced to leave their homeland.

How many wars in the world begin because of a desire to control territory, and how much hostile activity takes place between people, in attempts to thwart each other's resources, to take control of possessions, with the intention of taking what you think you deserve so that it will not have it.

Our envious thoughts, generate great harm to ourselves and others.
Oppression, loss of livelihood, destruction of families, diseases, and so much more...
It is enough to feel jealous of someone, without even taking any physical action against the other person, to create damage.

According to the Kabbalah, jealousy is a harsh energy with a potential for great destruction, and when it accumulates, it nourishes the forces of darkness - the systems of impurity that are intensifying in our world (Klipot).

The dark forces tirelessly aspire to nourish themselves, and act ceaselessly to arouse thoughts of jealousy among human beings.

We are all well aware of the issue of jealousy and try to protect ourselves from the envy of others:

Note how many of you are careful not to talk openly about their possessions and achievements - it is not just a desire to preserve privacy, but based the primal knowledge that that passes through the ages, that envy is ingrained within human nature.
